Services I Provide
Consultation
I offer free consultation services, which generally consist of a 40-50 minute meeting where we will work together to determine the type of treatment that will best fit your personal situation. During the consultation I will gather information about your background and current presenting problem. We will then work together to create a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
I generally view the consultation process as an opportunity to see if we are a good fit for working together. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is an essential component of therapeutic growth and change. If after the consultation you feel that this is not the right treatment fit for you, I will be happy to provide you with names of colleagues in treatment centers in the area that may better meet your treatment needs and desires.
Individual Psychotherapy
I offer both short-term and long-term psychotherapy. I have experience working with individuals who are experiencing a wide variety of life challenges including but not limited to: relationship difficulties, struggles with loss or grief, family problems, gender identity or sexuality questions, adjustments to a new environment, difficulties related to various life transitions and recovery from abuse or neglect. I also have experience working with individuals who have struggled with various psychiatric disorders such as, mood disorders (e.g. depression), anxiety disorders (e.g. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder) and Somatoform Disorders.
Couples Therapy
I also have experience providing couples therapy. I generally believe that couples therapy can be helpful for all relationships, although I understand that when couples choose to come for couples therapy they are often in a challenging place. I generally spend time with couples and help them to establish or redefine the goals they have for the relationship. This may include working on forgiving past hurts or transgressions, improving communication in the relationship, building or rebuilding the intimacy in the relationship and overcoming life changes such as the birth of a child or the loss of a loved one that may be negatively impacting the relationship. As with individual psychotherapy there is typically a consultation period where we would determine if I am the right treatment fit for you.
